MID - AUTUMN FESTIVAL

The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, originated from the worship of the heavens, which evolved from the autumn rituals of the ancient times. The Mid-Autumn Festival falls on the 15th day of August of the lunar calendar. Since the ancient times, the Mid-Autumn Festival has been worshipping the moon, enjoying the moon, eating moon cakes, playing with lanterns, enjoying Osmanthus, drinking Osmanthus wine and other folk customs. The Mid-Autumn Festival and the Spring Festival, the Ching Ming Festival and the Dragon Boat Festival are also called the “Four Traditional Festivals” in China.

Moon Cake Making

Moon cake is the signature food of Mid- Autumn Festival. A rich thick filling usually made from red bean or lotus seed paste is surrounded by a thin crust and may contain yolks from salted duck eggs. Mooncakes are usually eaten in small wedges accompanied by tea.

A truly folk art, Tie-dye is a unique dyeing process in Chinese folk tradition. A dyeing method in which the fabric is partially ligated during dyeing so that it cannot be coloured, one of the traditional Chinese hand dyeing techniques.

The tie dyeing process is divided into two parts: knotting and dyeing. It is dyed by a combination of various forms such as tying, sewing, binding, splicing, and clamping.
